Arizona Breast Cancer Non-profit Announces
the Return of The Pink Light District for the 5th Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Scottsdale, Ariz. - August 8, 2011 -
The Arizona Institute for Breast Health (AIBH), an Arizona breast cancer non-profit, just announced the return of The Pink Light District, their annual fundraiser coming this fall, giving individuals a unique way to honor all those touched by breast cancer.

Jennifer Owen, President of AIBH, is very pleased to announce the return of this initiative. According to Owen, "From now through October 31st, individuals will have the opportunity to sponsor pink light bulbs for $25 each in recognition of those affected by breast cancer. These light bulbs will once again be placed on the Marshall Way Bridge, which links the Scottsdale Waterfront to the Southbridge District in downtown Scottsdale and will be illuminated on October 6th at the Lighting Ceremony, "The Pink Light District." The ceremony is hosted by Olive and Ivy and will be held the evening of the 6th as supporters and survivors look on.

This unique fundraiser is an opportunity for individuals to show their appreciation, to give thanks and to honor those touched by breast cancer in a most unusual way. When a Pink Honor Light is sponsored, the Honoree designated will receive a Tribute Card emailed to them with a special message from their supporter and their name will appear in the Pink Light District Honor Album on the AIBH website.

These Pink Honor Lights will glow throughout October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in tribute to breast cancer survivors and to all who have supported a loved one or friend when battling this disease. "Having gone through breast cancer 15 years ago, I am very proud of all the support AIBH receives for The Pink Light District," says Christine Fenwick, Executive Director of the organization. All funds raised from this event go directly to supporting women who are dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis.

Fundraising is an important aspect of AIBH because the Institute provides a second opinion for treatment options to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, completely free of charge. This fundraiser is a unique way to bring attention to the cause and to AIBH. "We are very pleased to also announce the support of Dr. William Leighton, MD, who raised the bar of giving as the Premier Sponsor of The 2011 Pink Light District. Dr. Leighton will have the honor of flipping the switch the night of the 6th at the Lighting Ceremony," states Fenwick. Arizona Breast Cancer Specialists, Arcadia News, Farrelli's Cinema Supper Club, Fiesta Furnishings, Iron Medical Systems, Jani-King of Arizona, Learning RX, Leighton & Abdo and Anasazi Internal Medicine are also among the list of Corporate Sponsors.

Physicians and medical professionals volunteer their time for the Institute each week, which was created to give everyone the opportunity to receive the best possible information regarding treatment options for breast cancer. Since breast cancer does not discriminate, AIBH offers their services to all women and men so they have a place to go for a second opinion for treatment recommendations, for education about the disease and for support through this most difficult time.
