FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Scottsdale, Ariz. - October 8, 2008 - The Arizona Institute for Breast Health (AIBH), an
Arizona breast cancer non-profit, just announced that thousands of pink light bulbs
and pink awareness ribbons are now glowing brightly on the Canal Bridge
in downtown Scottsdale that links the Scottsdale Waterfront to the Mix District
creating
"The Pink Light District," a very unique fundraiser supporting the
Arizona Institute for Breast Health (AIBH).
Since August 1, Breast Cancer Supporters all over the world have been
sponsoring Pink Honor Lights in tribute to all those touched by breast cancer -
survivors, caregivers, friends and family alike.
On October 3rd during the VIP Lighting Ceremony, Carole Machiz from Scottsdale, with the support of
the Arizona Institute for Breast Health Founders,
Dr. Belinda Barclay-White and Dr. Coral Quiet, had the honor of "flipping the switch"
to illuminate the lights on the bridge with hundreds of supporters to cheer them on!
Among the supporters in attendance were Scottsdale Mayor Mary Manross, John Little, Scottsdale Interim City Manager, Robin Meinhart, Downtown Liaison
and Councilman Jim Lane.
According to Julie Robinson, President of AIBH, "We were extremely appreciative of the support
and assistance we have received once again from the city of Scottsdale with this special event. Since AIBH's
mission is to provide a free second opinion, education and support to women who are going through a
breast cancer diagnosis, getting the word out about our program is the key."
This fundraiser not only supports women who are battling the disease, but brings
about public awareness to the program that is available to all women,
completely
free of charge.
Wendy Farrelli, co-chair of the project states, "We are also very grateful to the
many sponsors who stepped up with a deeper level of giving. APS, Jani-King Southwest,
So Scottsdale, and Olive & Ivy and are filling the Corporate
Sponsorship roles while many generous donors stepped up to Individual Sponsorship Levels."
These beautiful pink lights will glow all through October in honor of Breast Cancer
Awareness Month. All Pink Light Honorees and their Sponsors are listed in the Pink Light District
Honor Album, proudly displayed on the AIBH website,
www.AIBH.org
There is still time to sponsor a Pink Honor Light through The Pink Light District at
