FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Scottsdale, Ariz. - July 18, 2007 - The Arizona Institute for Breast Health (AIBH), an Arizona
breast cancer non-profit, just announced a new fundraiser coming this fall giving individuals
a unique way to honor all those touched by breast cancer.
Wendy Farrelli, Co-Chair of this event, is very excited to announce that, "From August 1st
through October 31st, individuals will have the opportunity to purchase pink light bulbs for
$20 each in recognition of those affected by breast cancer. These light bulbs will be placed
on the Canal Bridge, which links the Scottsdale Waterfront to the Southbridge District in
downtown Scottsdale and will be illuminated on September 28th at the inaugural lighting ceremony,
The Pink Light District. These Pink Honor Lights will glow throughout October in recognition
of Breast Cancer Awareness Month."
It is an opportunity for individuals to show their appreciation, to give thanks and to honor
those touched by breast cancer in a most unusual way. When purchasing a Pink Honor Light, the
Honoree will receive a Tribute Card emailed to them with a special message from their supporter
and their name will appear in the Pink Light District Honor Album on the AIBH website.
These Pink Honor Lights will glow all throughout October in tribute to those who have
supported or have been there when a loved one or friend was battling this disease. "It is
also a wonderful way for a survivor to thank a family member, a friend or anyone who
has made a difference in their life as they were going through their treatment,"
states Farrelli. All funds raised from this event go directly to supporting
women who are dealing with a breast cancer diagnosis.
According to Christine Lessard, Executive Director for AIBH, "Because our
Institute provides a second opinion for treatment options to women
who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, completely free of charge,
fundraising is a very important aspect of our organization. This
fundraiser is a new and unique way to bring attention to the cause and to support AIBH."
Physicians and medical professionals volunteer their time for the
Institute each week, which was created to give all women the opportunity
to receive the best possible information regarding treatment options for
breast cancer. Since breast cancer does not discriminate, AIBH offers
their services to all women so they have a place to go for a second
opinion for treatment recommendations, for education about the disease
and for support through this most difficult time.
