The
Pink Light District®
honors the 2009
Pink Light Award Recipient!
All of us at the Arizona Institute for Breast Health would like to thank our 2009 Pink Light Award Recipient for "flipping the switch" the evening of October 1st at our
Pink Light District Lighting Ceremony, which illuminated the thousands of Pink Honor Lights placed on the Canal Bridge in downtown Scottsdale.
This year, one very special essay was written by a breast cancer survivor herself, Christia Gibbons of Tempe. Christia's essay said volumes
about her nominee's strength, courage, and generous spirit, as she not only battled breast cancer as well, but how she supported Christia throughout
her ordeal.
Cheryl Speen of Mesa
is our 2009
Pink Light Award Recipient
We would like to thank everyone who submitted a nomination! We received many beautiful and heartfelt essays submitted by men and women
nominating breast cancer survivors, supporters and people who have made a difference in the fight against this disease. It was very
moving to read about each nominee, which made the selection process very difficult.
We look forward to receiving many essays next year when it is Pink Light District time once again!
