Carole and Bob Machiz
2007 Pink Light District Premier Sponsors
Many of you may already know Carole and Bob Machiz, our Premier Sponsors of The Pink Light District!
A dynamic couple with not only a flair for giving to those less fortunate, but a couple who always
gives with compassion and sincerity along the way.
Carole and Bob met in late 1990 and got married at the
end of May in 1991. Sixteen years later and very happily
married, their similar interests and philanthropic works
are their career and their shared passion. They take
pleasure in supporting the community and are very involved
with many Valley organizations. Being die-hard Phoenix Suns
fans, they have sponsored the Celebrity Shoot Out since its
inception, which supports the Sun's Night Hoops. And if you
are Phoenix Mercury fans, you probably saw Carole and Bob
on the floor from day one, cheering the gals on to victory
and are so proud of them winning their first WNBA Championship this year!
Carole has served on the Heart Ball Committee, on the Board
of the Phoenix Suns Charities, the Board of the Phoenix Theater
as well as the Advisory Board for Fight Night, which generates
much-needed funds for Parkinson's Research.
Carole was born in Los Angeles and grew up in San Francisco.
From the time she was 3, Carole was stage-struck and has had
a passion for Broadway shows. Carole and Bob are very active
with the Phoenix Theater, have been the individual sponsors of
the Phoenix Follies for the last 5 years and do all they can to
promote the arts. In fact, if you have ever attended the Follies,
you may remember seeing Carole up on stage performing in many
productions herself. Her dream of acting has been realized,
being able to participate in the Phoenix Theater, and she thanks
Michael Barnard and her husband Bob for making all her acting dreams come true.
On a personal level, Carole reveals that she will do anything
for her friends, especially in a time of need, but her love for
Bob and "the one who rules the house," her cat Millie, are her
first priorities. Previously, Carole's career was in many
levels of fashion, but after marrying Bob, she has been
devoting her energy to all her nonprofit activities.
Bob was born, raised and educated in Brooklyn, New York
and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He moved to The Valley of the Sun
in 1967 with his late wife, his partner and partner's wife and
Weight Watchers of Arizona began. It is still going strong today.
Bob is still very active as CEO with the franchise.
As Premier Sponsors for The Pink Light District, Carole and Bob will have the exclusive honor of
"flipping the switch" to turn on all the Pink Honor Lights on Friday,
September 28th on the Canal Bridge in downtown Scottsdale. It will be a glorious moment that
AIBH has been looking forward to for a long time and the Carole and Bob's participation brings the final touch!
