Scottsdale will turn Canal Bridge Pink

August 7, 2007 - Scottsdale - Canal Bridge, which links the Scottsdale Waterfront to the Southbridge District in downtown Scottsdale, will turn pink for a cause this fall. And Valley residents have a chance to play a role.

Pink Christmas-style lights will be illuminated Sept. 28 and will shine throughout October during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For $20 each, anyone can "buy" one of the pink bulbs, which will shine in honor of women and men who've been affected by breast cancer.

The Arizona Institute for Breast Health is organizing the pink spectacle to raise awareness of its program, which offers a free second medical opinion to cancer patients.

The foundation expects donors will be survivors and people who want to pay tribute to relatives, friends or special caregivers.

In addition to sponsoring a bulb, donors will be able to have a tribute e-mail sent to honorees whose names will appear on the group's Web site, www.aibh.org.

"It's also a wonderful way for a survivor to thank a family member, a friend or anyone who has made a difference in their life as they were going through their treatment," event co-chairwoman Wendy Farrelli said.
